The Art of Holding Space – 15h Continuing Education (YACEP)

A masterclass and training for teachers, facilitators, and space-holders (but also practitioners!) who wish to cultivate psychological clarity, ethical leadership, and grounded energetic presence. Let’s create emotionally and spiritually safe environments where real transformation can unfold: no woo woo, and no BS!

Why Choose This Training?

What does it actually mean to hold a space — emotionally, relationally, and energetically — for a group of humans with different histories, nervous systems, and needs? Who said that “trauma-informed” teaching must always mean balasana and softness? What if you want to teach complex, demanding, or energetically intense practices — and still make them feel deeply safe, accessible, and ethically held? Is safety only about invitational language, or is there more to it?
This training is designed for facilitators who want to move beyond simplistic formulas and cultivate a mature, embodied, and relational understanding of safety. You will learn how to hold space without collapsing into rescuing, how to teach challenging practices without overwhelming students, and how to integrate clarity, structure, boundaries, and accountability without losing compassion or presence. If you are ready to deepen your skills as a teacher (or a simply a sharer!), refine your inner steadiness, and elevate the integrity of your teaching, this training offers the grounded, experiential, and transformative tools you’ve been looking for.

Our Invitation

Ethos: How Has this Training Come About?

At Nereya, we chose to invite Federica Lodo because this training emerges from years of lived experience in holding space — years in which we have witnessed both the beauty and the difficulty of guiding groups through deep practice. Space holding is often underestimated: people imagine it is simply kindness, softness, or intuition, but in reality it requires clarity, boundaries, self-awareness, and the capacity to navigate what inevitably arises when human beings gather to practice. Although this is not a therapeutic space — and yoga should never replace therapy — it is undeniable that group psychological dynamics shape the safety and depth of any class, workshop, or retreat. This training was born from all the moments in which we wished someone had explained these dynamics earlier, and from our commitment to prepare facilitators to hold space sincerely, consciously, and without stepping into roles that are not theirs. It is an education in presence, integrity, and protection — for both the teacher and the students.

With love,

Carolina

FAQs

No, you don’t need to be a certified yoga teacher, but you need to be familiar with yoga as we will draw from that to work with exercises and simulations. We believe that this course is helpful for anybody who is interested in/practicing any form of space holding: retreats leaders, movement teachers, event organizers, sacred sound workers, sharing circles facilitators and the like.

Yes. It is important that you do have a yoga practice (any kind, and preferably some basic experience with asana) and that you are able to self-regulate and you feel generally stable mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Nobody’s perfect, but it’s important that you understand that this is not a therapy group or substitute for therapy: if you feel like you are deeply struggling with something or are easily activated by triggers, this is probably not a good option for you at this very moment as we will actively and purposefully work with challenge in space-holding situations.

Upon request, you can apply to receive a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Certificate. The course is fully recognized by this organization and it can count on your education hours. The certification costs 30€ on top of the course’s price (total of 150€)

Yes it is. You are expected to be present live, with camera on and participative.

Yes, the theoretical part will be recorded (not the simulations and practicum) and it will be available to rewatch for 7 days. This doesn’t mean that you can skip being present live: participation is mandatory.
